Tyrell 009 F1 car

Gartrac was contracted to the Tyrell Racing team to make front and rear aerofoil wings for the 009 formula one car.

The wings were made to aircraft spec quality which involved fabricating the end plates with riveted fixings, rolling the outer skin, forming polystyrene to the same shape as the wing which was then inserted inside the wing to give added strength. The wings were then drilled, riveted, glued and assembled in a jig to Tyrell specification and drawings.

Gartrac was also the contractor to Honda in the 2000s, producing bespoke pit equipment for their formula one team.
