Aluminium Gas Welding

We always get asked what is the difference between the Gartrac alloy wheel arches and the others available on the market?

This video shows the gas welding process which we use to construct our wheel arches.

The famous Gartrac aluminium wheel arches

The arches are made from three pieces of formed aluminium, which is then gas welded by our expert fabricator. Once welded the arch is flanged and then wired for extra strength.

Gas welding is a dying art which takes extreme skill to perfect. The video shows our fabricator using the gas torch to fuse the two pieces of material together. Notice how he does not use any aluminium rod, just years of experience to know when to move the molten pool without blowing a hole in the arch.

The gas welding process is much stronger than electrical TIG welding which tends to split. All of our aluminium fuel tanks and oil tanks are gas welded too.
